We think the storm came, but we were tucked up tight – so nice and sheltered that we hardly felt a thing. We heard the wind howling outside and wondered how our friends were doing in the mooring field.
Yesterday was windy all day. We used it as a utility day, doing some laundry and boat chores. In the late afternoon we tried to see sea turtles by dinghy but the wind and waves made it nearly impossible to see anything with the looky bucket.
We finished out the evening catching up on projects. I carved us a Livin’ Life sign to hang on the island. I wish we had brought paints and paintbrushes! I had no idea people left boat signs around the islands. I also caught up on blogging, not that I can post any of them but they are written.
Today we sadly said goodbye to the Compass Cay folks and their pet sharks and left for Big Major Island by Staniel Cay. This is where the pigs on the island will swim out to your dinghy looking for handouts. Our new navigation system worked like a charm and we left the tricky Compass Cay pass and anchored at Big Major without issue. Love it!
We dinghied to the beach and fed the pigs. Dave made a big friend! We also dinghied out to Thunderball Grotto, a cave where the James Bond movie Thunderball was filmed. We didn’t dive in, but scoped it out for tomorrow.
Shortly after returning to the boat, our friends on Pura Vida caught up to us and we are once again buddy boating. We really enjoy their company and have been learning a lot from them, so we were happy to have them back!
