So what have Dave and I been doing to keep ourselves busy during our time off the boat? Well, instead of boat work, it’s land work or house work. We had two chores: prepare our house for sale and help my mom install a foundation for a storage building. We spent a week going through our house and getting rid of a bunch of stuff. We will no longer have a land base, so everything has to go! Some things are hard to part with, but once you commit to getting rid of it you feel better about it. We spent almost 20 years together collecting stuff and now it was almost all gone in a week!
We held a garage sale, donated stuff, gave things to family members, and made a trip to the dump. The house looks better already! Here is the listing with the pictures, if you are curious: http://www.remax.com/realestatehomesforsale/1243-panorama-drive-big-bear-ca-92314-gid100012417345.html. Anyone need a nice mountain getaway? After the big purge, we cleaned and painted, and are still finding things that have to go.
After my brother-in-law built a frame for the foundation, we had to figure out how to get gravel and put it in the frame. So we rented a Bobcat that had controllers like a video game. Since Dave is a gamer, he picked up on it pretty quick. I have no joystick coordination abilities, but I still had fun trying it. With 95% of the work now done, we are getting ready to head out on a road trip that will take us through Las Vegas, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Napa, and the San Francisco Bay. Now, if we can just get onto a boat! We are definitely feeling water deprived!
