My mom arrived just in time for the Carnival Prettymas Parade. Coconut Joe’s just happened to be on the route and, since we already scoped it out, we chose it for our viewing hub. We arrived early for food and drinks and guaranteed shade and seats somewhere. It was hot, really hot. The parade was late, as usual for parades, and was very disorganized. I thought the Grenada parade was disorganized but it was very orderly in comparison. It was hard to get good shot because everyone was just randomly walking or running, chaotically grouped, and blocked by parade marshals. It was still fun, though, and I enjoyed the energy. Some random guy on the street grabbed hold of Lauren from Vidorra and whirled her around in a dance. She took it well. I wouldn’t have. She looked beautiful laughing and dancing, didn’t she? Luke filled down time coloring the monkey and cracking himself up at giving it a purple butt or blue face. Then he decided to color everyone’s hair. No biggie until Paul from Delphinus convinced him to go color the hair of complete strangers. That’s Paul! What a troublemaker! Fortunately, there were very nice and patient people in the restaurant.
Along with Delphinus and Vidorra, we were joined by Slow Flight, Blue Moon, and Aeolus. I can’t get over how we can go country to country and run into so many people we know (as well as make new friends through old friends). I love that!
After the parade, “Uncle Steve” bought Luke a bubble gun for endless entertainment — well, until it ran out of bubble stuff. Oh dear. But he got a lot of giggles out of it. No kid can resist bubbles! Cuteness alert!
