Livin’ Life sums up our outlook on life: to live a life worth living. Life is more than work, money, and vacations. It is about friends and family, learning, experiencing, going outside of our comfort zones, seeing what the world has to offer and what we can offer back.
In fulfillment of one of our long-term goals of living the cruising life on a sailboat, Dave has been working towards wrapping up his professional responsibilities in order to take a sabbatical. It is with a heavy heart that Dave leaves his excellent team of friends at Barnes & Noble.
Together, we worked towards this goal by attending sailing classes at OCSC Sailing School in Berkeley, California, buying the boat and having it refitted to suit our desired lifestyle, and Janice finishing up her master’s degree program; which leads us to another major goal: launching Janice into a second career in Fish and Wildlife Management. In August 2014, Janice completed her coursework in environmental and fish & wildlife management, her thesis on the de-extinction of the passenger pigeon, and an internship with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the U.S. Geological Survey to study the nesting success of the shorebirds in the South San Francisco Bay Estuary. The next phase will include volunteering on environmental projects during our travels to begin building her résumé.
Through our blog, Livin’ Life, we wish to share our experiences as launch into our dreams of a second life, a life worth living.
